Edo State-owned University, the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, has said it would honour the President of the Republic of Gambia, His Excellency, Adama Barrow, with an honorary degree at its 22nd Convocation Ceremony scheduled to hold from October 11 to Saturday October 19, 2019.

It said chairman of EcoBank Transnational Corporation, Mr. Emmanuel Ikhazoboh, the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of DAF Homes & Estate Limited, Lagos, Dr. Dorry Afe Okojie, Retired General Anthony Ukpo and business mogul, Chief (Dr) Ezekiel Ainabe, a native of Ekpoma would also be honoured.

Spokesman for the university, Mr. Edward Aihevba, noted that the honouring of the Gambia president would be the beginning of recognition of progressive African leaders by the institution.

Aihevba said it would create linkages between AAU and institutions in Gambia.

He stated that a former Nigeria Head of State, Major General Abdusalam Abubakar (Rtd) and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi would grace the occassion.

The AAU spokesman disclosed that Gen. Abubakar, would be the Guest Lecturer at the launching of an Endowment Fund while Dr. Fayemi would deliver the Convocation Guest Lecture on October 17, 2019.

He said the convocation ceremony would also feature the formal installation of the Pro-chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the university, Chief Lawson Omokhodion.

Aihevba said the award on other personalities was based on their achievements and contribution to national development.

He equally stated that the award is expected to create a relationship between the university and the awardees, by which in the next five years their contributions would have engineered lots of development in the university.
