Anambra State Caucus of All Progressives Congress ( APC) on Wednesday nominated Hon. Paul Chukwuma, former South-East Zonal Youth Leader, National Executive Council (NEC) member and 2017 Anambra State Governorship aspirant of the party to serve as National Auditor of APC, until June 2022.

In a statement signed by the Anambra State Publicity Secretary, Arc. Okelo Madukaife, and made available to Tribune Online in Awka, on Thursday, said Chukwuma will replace Chief George Moghalu, Managing Director of National Inland Waterway Authority ( NIWA), who was re-elected to the position in June 2018 but resigned late last year following his executive appointment, in line with the 2014 Constitution of the party.

"To emerge as nominated, Hon. Paul Chukwuma scored 22 votes to beat Hon. Chukwuemeke Nwogbo, former member representing Awka North/ South Federal Constituency in the House of Representative from 2011 to 2015, who scored 18 votes, and five others; Hon. Nze Chidi Duru, also a former member of House of Reps representing Aguata Federal Constituency, who polled five ( 5) votes, Chief Uche Ufearoh got one vote, while Engr (Mrs) Constance Iloh, Mr Uche Chiadi and Mr Ifeanyi Ndulue scored no vote apiece.

He said eight aspirants were withdrawn before voting to bring the number to seven. They were Chief Azuka Okwuosa, Col Geoff Onyejegbu, Chief Uzoma Igbonwa and Dr Ejike Ogoegbunam. Others who also stepped down were Rt. Hon Mike Ugwa, former Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Ikechukwu Ezenwamma, 2019 House of Assembly candidate of APC for Aguata 1 State Constituency, Emeka Nwankwo, 2015 House of Assembly candidate of the party for Nnewi South 2, State Constituency and Valentine Oliobi, current APC member, Njikoka LG Executive.

On approval by the State Executive Committee ( SEC), he said Paul Chukwuma's credentials will be forwarded to the South-East Zonal Executive Committee ( ZEC) of the party and is expected to be ratified in a meeting holding in Owerri on March 7, 2020, prior to presentation to the National Working Committee ( NWC) and National Executive Committee ( NEC), where the final ratification in fulfilment of the condition for electing a national officer.

He added that Chukwuma was also a former National Officer of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), one of the legacy parties that formed APC in 2013.


"A graduate of Computer Science from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Chukwuma's career spanned at various time maintenance through consulting to contracting.

Chukwuma is happily married, with children, hail from Anambra North Senatorial District
