A 21-year-old man has been arrested by Police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) at Eke Awka, Anambra State.

The suspect, Ndubuisi Chibuike, an indigene of Nenwe, Enugu State, before his arrest was beaten to stupor by a mob after he allegedly robbed one Agbaka Basil of his tricycle at gunpoint.

A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, named exhibits recovered from the suspect to include one Makrov pistol with six live ammunition and the robbed tricycle.

The statement partly reads: "On 26/2/2020 at about 9:15pm, following a distress call, Police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad  (SARS) arrested at Eke Awka  one Ndubuisi Chibuike 'm' aged 21 years of Nenwe, Enugu State.

"Suspect who was beaten to stupor by the mob was rescued and arrested after he allegedly robbed one Agbaka Basil 'm' of his tricycle at gunpoint."

Mohammed said that the suspect was taken to the hospital for medical attention and would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
