Emerging report suggests that a journalist was on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 attacked by thugs in Abuja. The deputy editor of Daily Post, Ameh Godwin was reportedly attacked by thugs in the Garki area of the Federal Capital Territory.

The journalist said he was lured by a friend to a meeting at Area 8 where thugs reportedly sponsored by the candidate assaulted him on sight. "He ordered them to deal with me and the boys started beating me. Blood was gushing out from my nose, and he was busy shouting. Kill the idiot. Kill the idiot while punching my head," he said of the encounter.

Ameh said he managed to flee from the attack. "I was taken to the police clinic where necessary tests were conducted because I sustained injuries. As we speak, I can't move my body because of the magnitude of the beatings I received," he said.
