*orders relief materials for the aged

Gov Willie Obiano has shown open commitment in safeguarding lives of Ndi Anambra against the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic which has been spreading worldwide killing thousands and rapidly infecting many.

The governor's painstaking efforts round-the-clock has ensured that no report of its infection has been recorded in our dear state, Anambra so far.

The situation which necessitated the World Health Organization, Federal and State governments to quickly formulate and issue coronavirus advisory directives.

The measures include staying at home, washing our hands regularly with soap under running water for 20 seconds each time, using hand sanitizers, avoid handshake, hug and kiss, social distancing from  people (6 feet), avoiding public gatherings, states boundary closures directive etc. 

Above all these, Gov Obiano has established four isolation centres in the state in order not to be taken unawares. The centres included a 240-bed NYSC Camp Isolation Centre at Umuawulu in Awka South Council Area, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku, Awka; the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi and the Onitsha General Hospital. While the Umuawulu Centre is ready, the other three centres would be ready very soon. 

The governor has also in his usual proactive and humane approach has unveiled and implemented stimulus packages to cushion the effect of the Covid-19 crisis lockdown period.

The package includes the payment of March salary and other incentives to workers as well as distribution of relief materials like food items of rice and others to the aged people in all the communities, tax refund to business operators and traders in the State.
