In the Benue State, the National Igbo Students Union recently commenced a transformation initiative as a part of their social responsibility, with the view to help internally displaced children, persons and vulnerable households. The outreach program was held few days ago in Makurdi Benue state, with over 500persons benefitting from the significant intervention program of the Union.


According to reports garnered from our Correspondent, the outreach program, which is the first edition of their project and themed "Transforming all the Internally displaced persons from liability to a great assets". The project witnessed the feeding of 500 persons, skills empowerment to help them become productive, resourceful and useful to themselves, their families and their society at large.

Additionally, few persons were given the sum of Ten Thousand Naira(N10,000) each as a start up capital to fuel the skills they have acquired thereby improving their standard of living. He further stated that the Organization are going to shock everybody with the unimaginable transformation within the next 6 months since this people and very able and not disabled people.


Speaking with the President of the National Igbo Students Union, Mr. Onyishi Emmanuel Uchechukwu, popularly known as "State Igwe", noted that the initiative is a social responsibility as an eye opener to the Government and other well to do individuals and organisations. He says, "i believed that if this people can start doing something and get money without depending on anyone, it will help send those children to school atleast to get the primary knowledge".
