This year's edition with the theme  "Fire Safety Management as an imperative to National Security"  which is holding in Jos, Plateau State commenced with an opening ceremony on Monday, 28th June 2021.

The Commissioner of Housing who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Alfred Datoel while declaring the Conference opened extended the gratitude of the Government of Plateau to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr. Liman Alhaji Ibrahim for finding Plateau State worthy of hosting the 11th National Fire Conference.

He tasked the Conference participants on the need to develop the best strategies toward the management of fire issues. " As think - tanks on  fire policies, you are expected to develop the best strategies and proactive approach towards the management of fire issues. A more drastic and confrontational approach is required for effective preventive initiative crucial to the attainment of fire - free society. It must be noted that to sustain achievement so far made in the past, avoidable fire menace must be prevented. To do this, our sense of responsibilities and proactive measures must  be strengthened. " He said.

The Controller General, Dr. Liman Alhaji Ibrahim in his welcome address thanked the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Rt Hon. Simon Lalong for playing host to this year's conference.
The CG stated that, the National Fire Conference is the highest technical session of Fire Services nation wide  which provide opportunity for deliberation and brainstorming on contemporary issues that relates to fire safety development.

The Controller General, noted that beyond the insecurity faced by nation at the moment, fire and other emergency related issues must be addressed.
According to the CG " needles that our National Security is facing an existential threat and the conversation on national security threat will be incomplete without other factors beyond terrorism, insurgency, secessionist movements, banditry, etc. This other factor like the above factors has the potential of threatening the physical well being of the population as well as jeopardizing the stability of the nation' economy, food security and institutions in a devastating and near irredeemable way and that factor is fire and other emergency related issues. Hence the 2021 Conference theme (Fire Safety Management as an imperative to national security) "

The CG said the Conference will give participants the opportunity to listen to paper presentations, deliberate on critical  issues of fire and other related emergencies,so as to come up with  a comprehensive communique that will fashion out better and more engaging Fire Services across the nation and so the participants should take the conversations at the Conference dispassionately.

The CG later led the conference participants to pay courtesy visit to the Plateau State Government House. The entourage was received by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Sonny Gwanle Tyoden on behalf of the Governor. The Deputy Governor who welcomed the participants to Jos, wished them a wonderful deliberation and stay in Jos.
