Abuja the nation's capital is now waiting with a bated breath as the 2021 edition of the African Fashion Designer Award holds.

The two-day event had on Friday kick started with exhibition at City Park Wuse 2 amidst glamour and fanfare. This is the 4th in the series.

The award night takes place at the National Merit House in Maitama Abuja tonight, Saturday, November 20 at 6:00pm where notable individuals and organisations who have contributed to the growth of the industry will be recognised.

With the theme, "Iconic Hall of Fame" the event is bringing together stakeholders in the fashion industry from Nigeria, USA, Ghana and Angola.

Organised by Designers Award Fashion Show, the Saturday's event will feature comedy, exhibition and runway showcase, cocktail and ballet and live performances.

As campaign for youth entrepreneurship continues to gain momentum as a result of the saturated labour market, the fashion industry has been identified as one that can lend support in taking millions of young people out of unemployment.

Though no visible investment has been made to boost the industry by the federal government, the industry thrives on the sole efforts of individuals and organisations in the every dynamic sector.
