The Gilbert and Philomena Etoh Family Foundation, established by a notable philantropist in Obibiezena, Mr John Etoh  has showered blessings to the people of Amaeze, Obibiezena in Owerri North local government area of Imo state.
This humanitarian foundation was primarily founded to cater for the less privileged, destitutes and widows in various Communities with particular attention to indigent people from Okwu na Umuobaa Amaeze in Obibiezena autonomous community.

In an interaction with the President of the Foundation, Mazi Silvanus Onuegbu, the Gilbert and Philomena Etoh Family Foundation was initially known as Okwu na Umuobaa Youths Empowerment.
According to the President, the idea was to use the Foundation as a platform to engage the youths of their kindred into meaningful economic endeavors that could enable them to earn a dependable means of livelihood.

Mazi Silvanus Onuegbu reiterated major hickups orchestrated by some disgruntled individuals in the kindred, whose mischievous altercations thwarted the beautiful idea. Determined to stand against derailments of any kind, Mr John Etoh, a United States based technocrat and sole funder of the Foundation, decided to use the names of his late parents, Gilbert and Philomena to run the Foundation.

Early two years ago, before the deadly Corona virus pandemic, Mr John Etoh had returned from America to splash many less privileged indigenes of Amaeze with lots of surprises and philantropic guestures.
Some of the beneficiaries got Cash to begin their own businesses while many others were trained in one trade or the other.

This year's philantropic exercise as carried out by the foundation was a huge surprise to the beneficiary, Mr Francis Okere, who received a complete tool bag for motor mechanical engineering and repairs.
Mr Francis Okere, who has just completed his apprenticeship in motor repairs, expressed profound joy with the charity from the Gilbert and Philomena Etoh Family Foundation.

Words could not express the happiness radiating on the face of France Okere, who said he never expected the unmerited assistance from Mr John Etoh, the sole funder of the Foundation. He promised to make judicious use of the tools to build and expand his business, adding that his biggest dream is to use the blessings from the foundation to render free training to any young person from the kindred, who wishes to learn motor mechanical engineering and repairs.

Responding to questions on the sustainability of the Foundation for more philantropic guestures to indigent indigenes of the Community, the secretary of the Foundation, Barr. Chris Nkwocha said efforts are on top gear to get the Foundation legally registered to guarantee perpetuity and eternal legacy.
He concluded that with a personality as Mr John Etoh and his outstanding pedigree, there are no fears as to the continuity of the humanitarian exercise being enjoyed by the good people of Amaeze from Okwu na Umuobaa kindred.

The founder of Gilbert and Philomena Etoh Family Foundation, Mr John Etoh was represented at the presentation ceremony by Mrs Chinaemerem Ukandu nee Etoh, who returned from the US for the Christmas and new year celebration. Mrs Ukandu thanked his elder brother for his wisdom and charity, asking God to bless and Grant him more wisdom and prosperity to continue funding the foundation. She pledged her support to the Foundation, adding that money and other resources to keep the foundation going would not pose a serious challenge to the Etoh family.
