The member representing Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency at the Lower Chambers of the 9th National Assembly, Hon Barr. Vincent Ekene Ofumelu, consults Ayamelum Traditional Rulers, Ayamelum Leaders of Thought, Stakeholders, President Generals and  others, where he presented his scorecard.  

Hon. Ofumelu in his address, thanked the people of Ayamelum for their committed support and prayers since the journey began in 2019 till date, he acknowledged their unity of purpose and routine town hall meeting which has helped him deliver on the core need of Oyi and Ayamelum people. 

The trail blazing Legislator after presenting his scorecard to his people, which has his many achievements, and as a first time lawmaker, having surpassed the benchmark of his predecessors; he informed the people of his interest and intention to continue at the National Assembly for a second term as according to the Constitution of the Federal Republic. 

Hon. Vincent Ofumelu noted that his decision to run again was borne out of the love, support and solicitation of various stakeholders and organizations in both Oyi and Ayamelum Local Government Areas, who kept prevailing on him to continue his good works at the National Assembly to ensure that more dividends of democracy comes to Oyi and Ayamelum Federal Constituency. 


Ofumelu, a lawyer by profession cleared the air on Issue of zoning arrangement between Oyi and Ayamelum Local Government. He stated that although zoning is not constitutional in the Federal Republic, instead a political arrangement to cut cost on Democracy and rotate positions between different blocs. He maintained that he is a perfect gentleman who would always abide by political arrangements where there’s willingness by everyone to pursue same interest and not when zoning is meant to serve the greed and interest of a few. He lamented on the betrayal of few politicians who despite the purported zoning arrangements, contested same election with him in 2019 and instituted seventeen (17) court cases against him of which it took the grace of God almighty to see him through. 

Ofumelu advocated, that if the two sister Local Government wish to pursue zoning in truth and fairness, it would be done by entire stakeholders, political parties and the ordinary people who are the core beneficiaries, rather than a few persons who wish to serve their interest and greed alone. 

The lawmaker presented himself eligible and the most qualified to Represent the Federal Constituency at the 10th National Assembly and assured of his continued effort to bring down dividends of Democracy to the doorstep of his people of Oyi and Ayamelum. 


The stakeholders which comprised of Traditional, Religious and community leaders, political sophisticated and many others across party line who spoke at the meeting noted that the issue of zoning arrangement has been put to rest and there’s No legitimate zoning understanding between the two sister Local Government Area. 

Vote of confidence was passed in Favour of Barr. Vincent Ekene Ofumelu, MHR to return to the National Assembly and continue his good works for the people. 

Ayamelum Stakeholders advised Hon. Ofumelu to get ticket as they assured him their support and unanimous solidarity to his second term bid.
