The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, a Nigerian socialite, on suspicion of money laundering and tax fraud.

The commission allegedly arrested him at the Lagos airport on Thursday, but officials of the commission have remained silent on the matter due to pressure from his associates and family, who have expressed concern that the case could complicate conditions for others suspected of being involved in the alleged racket.

Okechukwu was unable to respond to his followers who had wished him a happy birthday online due to his detention by the anti-graft agency.

According to another source, the EFCC only allowed his wife to see him.

The commission has yet to issue a comment about the businessman's arrest.

Recall that Okechukwu was recently appointed as the Special Adviser on Social media and social events management to the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma
