Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, has resigned in accordance with President Muhammadu Buhari's directive. 

During the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, the President ordered all cabinet members seeking elective office to resign by May 16. 

Jackson Udom, the Minister's Personal Assistant on Media, confirmed his resignation in an interview with The Nation. 

 "The Minister has resigned," he said. He has submitted his letter of resignation to the SGF. We'll meet him at the ICC, where he'll be submitting his nomination form."

 Meanwhile, the state minister of education  Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba and minister for Science and Technology , Ogbonaya Onu have tendered their resignation letters.
