The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) House of Assembly Screening Committee in Anambra State, has disqualified Hon. Charles Nwonye from contesting for Nnewi North Constituency seat under the platform of the party.

According to the reports, Hon. Charles Nwonye who is popularly known as Charlie Nwonye was allegedly disqualified due to anti-party activities as he was said to have supported All Progressive Congress (APC) during the 2021 Guber election.

Although, Charles Nwonye who is the immediate past President-General of Uruagu Nnewi is expected to appeal the decision of the screening committee, his chances of being cleared by the appeal committee is still low.

The result of the screening exercise which was released late Tuesday night showed that Comrade Peter Nwosu, Comrade Ibeneme Onyeka, Okwummuo Izuchukwu and Owulu Ikechukwu Peter, received the nod of the committee to proceed with their aspirations.

Our correspondent gathered that aside from the curriculum vitae and documents submitted by the aspirants, the screening considered party loyalty, track record, and financial standing.
