President Muhammadu Buhari has today made a landmark step towards ending malaria in Nigeria as he inaugurates Nigeria End Malaria Council(NEMC). He inaugurated the new Council at the State House in Abuja to enable the actualisation of eradicating malaria in Nigeria.

During the inauguration, President Buhari appointed the richest black man in the world Aliko Dangote as the pioneer Chairman of Nigeria End Malaria Council. According to the President, the Appointment of Aliko Dangote was premised on his track records and passion in supporting various health issues across Nigeria. Dangote is known to have supported various interventions in polio and primary health system strengthening. 

The president told the 16-member council headed by Aliko Dangote that beyond improving the quality of life, health and well-being of Nigerians, the concerted strategy to tackle malaria had both public health as well as socio-economic benefits for Nigeria. He further noted that the inauguration today will therefore ensure that malaria elimination remains a priority on our agenda, with strong political commitment from leaders at all levels.

The occasion however witnessed top Executives in the presidency and health care sector, some of which includes, Minister of Health, Permanent Secretaries, SGF, amongst others.
