The vice-presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 presidential election, Kashim Shettima on Saturday visited Senegal for the 2022 Maulud celebration.

Shetimma, a former two-term governor of Borno State and a serving senator, disclosed this in a post on his social media pages on Sunday.

He said : “Yesterday, I attended the 2022 Maulud celebration in Kaulaha, Senegal.

” Thank you Sheikh Muhammadul Mahi Inyass, Khalifa of Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass Kaulaha for honouring me.”

PlatinumPost reports that the Federal Government had declared Monday, 10 October 2022 as public holiday to mark this year’s Maulud Celebration in commemoration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, who made this declaration on behalf of the federal government, congratulated all Muslims both at home and in the Diaspora for witnessing this year’s occasion.

He admonished all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues and which the Prophet Muhammad exemplified, adding that doing so would guarantee peace, security and harmony in the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidates of Labour Party- Peter Obi, APC-Bola Tinubu, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – Atiku Abubakar, among others, have also congratulated Nigerian Muslims on this year’s Maulud celebration.
