A 23-year old man, Abidemi Oguntuyi, has stabbed his co-tenant to death

Ondo State Police Command arrested Oguntuyi for stabbing his co-tenant, Abiye Friday, aged 40, to death for attempting to settle a quarrel between him and his brother.

Oguntuyi was said to have stabbed Abiye on the neck and in several other parts of her body.

The incident occurred at Ibaka quarters, Akungba-Akoko.

A sister to the deceased, who pleaded anonymity, said her late sister and the suspect engaged in a quarrel while settling a dispute between the suspect and his brother.

“The argument degenerated into a scuffle and in the process, the suspect took a knife and stabbed Abiye severally in the chest. Neighbours rushed her to a nearby hospital in the area, where she was certified dead,” she said.

She said a brother to the deceased, John Friday, who tried to stop the suspect, was also stabbed.

The suspect has been remanded to the police custody by an Akure Magistrates’ Court after he was arraigned on two count charges of murder and attempted murder.
