Flamingos forward, Opeyemi Ajakaye, was named Player of the Match following Nigeria’s win against Germany on Sunday.

The Flamingos surrendered a three-goal lead in their third-place encounter at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup but later prevailed 3-2 on penalties.

Ajakaye scored her side’s opening goal of the game on 20 minutes.

The 16-year-old also converted from the spot in the shootout.

It’s the third time she has won the award in the competition.

She is also expected to be named in the team of the tournament.
