The Federal Government has advised Nigerian fashion designers on the need to always ensure quality packaging of their products for export.


The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, William Alo, gave the advice during a 2 day Ages of Fashion Exhibition organised by Ahline in Abuja.


The Permanent Secretary who was represented by Mrs Chinyere Efuwa said the advice became necessary to avoid reject of Nigerian indegenous fabrics production and designs in the international market.


According to him, the present Administration through its relevant agencies has put in place various programmes and incentives towards encouraging operators of Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, MSMEs in growing their businesses towards boosting the nation’s economy.

While commending Ahline for organising the Fashion Exhibition, the Permanent Secretary called for more Public-Private sector collaboration towards diversifying the nation’s economy through the export of Nigeria’s Non-Oil products.




Earlier, the Creative Director of Ahline, the Organizer of the Fashion Exhibition, Judith Vingil said the Fashion Exhibition said the event which was in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Culture was Organized to promote the Nigerian fashion culture and encourage the nation’s Indegenous entrepreneurs on how to go global.


“The main purpose of this event is to showcase the evolvement of fashion from its inception to this age, specifically the African culture via fashion” The Creative Director stated.


She explained that the event was also put together to sensitize fashion designers on how to make their products exportable towards diversifying the country’s economy.


Judith Vingil therefore used the opportunity to call on the participants and MSMEs operators in the country to always take advantage of various Government intervention programmes in growing their businesses.


She equally called for more enabling environment for Nigerian fashion designers to thrive in their endeavours.


Some of the participants and exhibitors at the event solicited more Government’s sure most especially in the area of basic infrastructures such electricity, road and water among others to further encourage the development of MSMEs in the country


They also stressed the need for more Financial support and free interest loans to expand their operations to enable them contribute their quota to national economic development


Highlights of the Fashion Exhibition were the presentation of awards and certificates to participants.
