The candidate of Labour Party in next year’s presidential election, Peter Obi, former President Olusegun Obasanjo and leader of the the Yoruba apex socio-political group, Ayo Adebanjo, on Sunday arrived in Enugu.


Obasanjo and Adebanjo, who are said to have endorsed the candidacy of the former Anambra governor ahead of the 2023 presidential polls, were received at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.


It was gathered that the Obi, Adebanjo, Obasanjo and other dignitaries are in Enugu for the 70th birthday celebration of the former President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Nnia Nwodo, holding at St. Mulumba Catholic Church, New Haven.

PlatinumPost reports that Ugwuanyi, who is a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Enugu North in next year’s election, is among the group of five governors (G5) that are at dagger-drawn with the national chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.


The G5 governors led by Nyesom Wike are yet to make their choice of presidential candidate known to their supporters.
