Embattled former governor of Enugu state, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani is currently at crossroads.

Five days ago, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had suspended him over his blatant support of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Nnamani however, in an apparent show of defiance, had launched a no-holds-barred, massive campaign on his Twitter page shortly after the announcement. He had made videos, posters and tweets, taunting the PDP and daring his party to do its worst by claiming that his actions did not violate any law.

Nnamani yesterday, had however began to pull down all campaign slogans and banners he had been publishing for Tinubu.

When our correspondent visited the confirmed Twitter page this morning, even the orange banner of #Emilokan & #Ebeano that had become his new signature had been split, and only #Ebeano was seen there.

Despite this, Chimaroke Nnamani had continued to painstakingly share all the campaign time table of the presidential campaign of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Pundits have said the senator's fervent removal of Tinubu’s posters might be connected with reports that the National Working Committee of the PDP had sat to discuss his suspension and feelers show that his actions have been observed by the party, and consequences are bound to follow.

Nnamani, who is running for Senate, it is alleged, has been complaining to those who care to listen that the man behind his woes is no other than the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

According to an informant, who confided in our correspondent, Nnamani is quoted to have said his problems started when he denied Ugwuanyi the privilege of choosing his successor. Our source said the former governor believes that his stance that Mr Peter Mbah must emerge as the Enugu State governorship candidate over Ugwuanyi’s anointed candidate, Mr Chijioke Edeoga angered the governor who quietly decided to ruin Nnamani’s political career.

"As you may know, Governor Ugwuanyi is a member of Ebeano family. He is the one who rehabilitated Nnamani with the Senate seat, thinking the former governor will respect him and let him chose his cousin, Mr Edeoga to succeed him. But Chimaroke in his typical manner, overran the governor and chose Dr Peter Mbah. Chimaroke says Gburugburu has been working underground since then to ensure that the PDP drops him from the Senate. He has also alleged that Ugwuanyi is plotting to completely destroy his political career.

"Right now, he believes that if Tinubu becomes president, he (Nnamani) could emerge a minister in his government, hence the support", the source said.
