The national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Iyorchia Ayu has stepped aside.

Mr Ayu stepped down on Tuesday afternoon following a court order that barred him from parading himself as the party’s national chairman.

The deputy national chairman Umar Damagun spoke to the media at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja and said he stepped in as the Acting chairman.

Statepress reports that a high court sitting in Makurdi had granted an ex-parte order stopping the  Iyorchia Ayu from parading himself as the National Chairman, PDP.

Justice Wilfred Kpochi, who granted the order, directed that Ayu restrains himself from acting as the national chairman of the party pending the hearing and determination of Motion on Notice already filed.
