The Labour Party in the Federal Capital Territory has accused opposition parties in the country’s capital of plans to falsify the election result of the LP’s senator-elect and the House of Representatives member-elect.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared the senatorial candidate of the LP, Ireti Kingibe, as the senator-elect for the FCT and Obika Chinedu as the House of Reps member-elect for AMAC/Bwari.

Addressing a press conference in the FCT, the LP Chairman, Peter Chukwuemeka, on Tuesday, explained that the party was suspecting the two major parties were planning to upturn the results of the National Assembly election.

Chkwuemeka said, “The suspicion about the FCT results is that there is a very strong rumour that the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress are going to INEC in the FCT to falsify our senatorial and House of Representatives election which will not be acceptable by the Labour Party, The results are there, it is open, it is documented, people voted for them and that is what we saw.

“The day our senator-elect and House of Representatives member-elect received their certificates of return, the whole Abuja residents were there celebrating, and it was very peaceful and remarkable.”

On the presidential election, the FCT LP chairman claimed that the people were not celebrating the outcome of the exercise.

“However, the moment the truth is upheld, people will start celebrating from now till December. And that is why you have not seen anybody celebrating,” he said.

The chairman maintained that the party was not surprised that its members won the elections because they planned for it, worked for it, and the Nigerian people, especially residents of the FCT needed a change and the change came.

He appreciated the FCT residents for voting for the party’s candidates, which gave them an overwhelming victory.
