Notable women in Nigeria and across the African continent are set to be recognised in the 2023 prestigious African Iconic Women Recognition Awards (AIWRA) for their contributions in peace building and national development. 


They include, the MD/CEO of Felak Concepts Group, Dr. Aisha Adole Achimugu, minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Farouq, Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Gbemisola Saraki, popular online publisher, Linda Ikeji and others. 


They were nominated and voted for in an online electioneering exercise which lasted for over a month. The award is organised by Face of Democracy Nigeria (FDN). 


Speaking with newsmen on Saturday, the Project Director of FDN, Alexander Ajagbonna, better known as Fajag said nominees were carefully selected and presented to the public to cast their votes based on their perception of impact of nominees. 


Fajag said the award is organised to appreciate the immense contribution of women to national development and to celebrate their outstanding genuineness in raising the bar of excellent service. 


Dr. Aisha Achimugu was nominated in the category of African Iconic Humanitarian Person of the Year along with Chief. Mrs. Edna Ngozi Ebube. A, Her Excellency Olufunsho Amosun, Dr. Mo Abudu and Dr lbukun Awosika. 


The MD/CEO of Felak Concepts Group emerged victorious. Her company is into consultancy services related to health, equipment procurement, training and capacity building. 


She is also a director in Altex Engineering Oil & Gas Limited and had also made her mark in maritime and transportation engineering. The very resourceful woman is the first woman transaction advisor/consultant to develop a seaport (Ibaka seaport) in Nigeria. 


The 2023 Africa Iconic Women Recognition Awards comes up on June 1, 2023 at Transcorp Holton Hotel Abuja.


It will be a gathering of the very best of women in Nigeria and beyond as they gather to be celebrated for their contributions the development of humanity.
