Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has taken over as the Ministry’s head of operations following Minister Betta Edu’s suspension.
President Bola Tinubu gave the order for this action to be taken. Edu was suspended on Monday because of her alleged involvement in a scam involving N585 million.
The minister is alleged to have transferred public funds into personal bank accounts.
According to information obtained by Abujapress, Enitan took over as the Ministry’s head after receiving a letter on Monday night from the Secretary of the Federation’s office.
Abujapress reports that Tinubu gave the suspended minister the directive to “hand over to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation” through his Special Advisor for Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
