Abubakar Sani killed his elder brother, Kabiru, over a property dispute.


Both siblings, who were born in the Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State, lived in the Gurara Local Government Area’s Gawu Babangida neighborhood.


Sani was believed to have attacked his elder brother with a large stick during an altercation, resulting in Kabiru’s death.


According to authorities, the suspect had been threatening his family members before the argument occurred with his elder brother.


When our correspondent contacted the state police spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, he explained that the suspect was arrested, adding that the case was under investigation.


“On 24/3/2024 at about 1145hrs, police operatives attached to Gawu-Babangida Division arrested one Abubakar Sani 30yrs of Gawu-Babangida area, Gurara LGA.


“The suspect was arrested for having engaged in a fight with his brother, Kabir Sani 34yrs over issues of property, and during the fight, he allegedly hit the brother with a stick on the head.


“The victim became unconscious and he was rushed to FMC, Gawu where he was confirmed dead. Preliminary investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will be transferred to the SCID for further investigation and diligent prosecution,” he stated.
