Ojulewa Alex and Alonge Samuel died after consuming a native liquid substance at an annual age group event in Ipe-Akoko, Akoko South East Local Government Area, Ondo State.
At the festival labeled “Ibogbel,” another kid identified as Adu Johnson reportedly went into coma after drinking from the same concoction as others.
A source stated that Adu has been admitted at an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.
One of the victims was reported to come for the festival from Abuja, while the others reside in the community.
According to the source, the concoction was prepared for the festival by one of the villagers identified as Ojulewa, a brother to one of the victims.
Our correspondent was further told that Ojulewa collapsed few hours after he drank the concoction during the ceremony.
The trio started vomiting while the ceremony was ongoing before two of them succumbed to death while the other is still in coma.
The police spokesperson in the state, Funmi Odunlami, has confirmed the death of the two youths.
