Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has announced a N10 million bounty for information leading to the capture of the perpetrators responsible for the killing of two policemen in the state.
Addressing the press after a State Security Council meeting, Governor Mbah expressed determination to ensure the culprits face justice, vowing to employ all available resources for their apprehension.
The governor, flanked by security chiefs including the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, disclosed that intelligence indicated involvement of individuals associated with the Eastern Security Network (ESN), arriving in multiple SUVs.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any relevant information or sightings to the authorities.
Governor Mbah emphasized the state’s commitment to upholding law and order, asserting that there will be no haven for criminals within Enugu.
“We just rounded off our Security Council meeting where we discussed, among other things, about the gruesome killing of our policemen, men of the Enugu State Police Command by criminals suspected to be members of the ESN.
“Let me say this, this bestial and cold-blooded action cannot be condoned in Enugu State.
“I have given my directives to the security agencies that there must be no hiding place for these criminals in Enugu State.
“We must use everything necessary to hunt down, arrest, and bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
“We have also placed a bounty of N10 million as a reward to anyone, who would have any useful information that will lead to the arrest of these criminals,” he said.
He extended condolences to the families of the slain officers and assured them of government support. Additionally, he affirmed plans to employ advanced technology and coordinated efforts to track down and neutralize the assailants, stressing the collective resolve to maintain a safe and dignified society in Enugu State.
