Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted an unspecified number of workers from Dangote Cement Company Plc in Okpella, Etsako West local government of Edo state.
The incident occurred on Monday when the workers were in a staff bus heading back to Okpella town after work.
According to an anonymous source in the Okpella community, the gunmen ambushed the bus, emerged from the bush, and forced the vehicle to stop at gunpoint before taking the workers into the bush. The exact number of abducted workers is yet to be confirmed.
Efforts to reach the police authorities for confirmation were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages to the State Commissioner of Police, CP Finsho Adegboye, and the Command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, went unanswered.
The situation remains tense as the community awaits further updates on the abduction.
