The Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Edison Ehie, has shed light on the strained relationship between his principal and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

According to Ehie, the root of the political discord in Rivers State stems from a group of leaders aiming to monopolize control over the state’s resources.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service commemorating Governor Fubara’s Supreme Court victory in Ahoada East Local Government Area, Ehie cautioned that the governor is prepared to assert his political authority against his adversaries.

“The crux of the matter lies in the attempt by a handful of individuals to wield exclusive control over Rivers State’s resources. This clique, numbering eleven, has convened another twenty to consolidate their grip on these resources,” Ehie remarked.

The thanksgiving ceremony, held at Western County High School Ahoada, witnessed jubilation among residents, marking Governor Fubara’s legal triumph. Amidst the festive atmosphere, community leaders, women, youth groups, and political allies rallied in support of Governor Fubara, underscoring their commitment to his leadership.

Addressing the gathering, State lawmakers aligned with Governor Fubara, led by Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, reaffirmed their unwavering support for his administration.

In his address, Chief of Staff Edison Ehie hinted at the underlying tensions between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. Despite Fubara’s youthfulness, Ehie emphasized his capacity to navigate the intricate political landscape and confront opposition effectively.

“We are poised to demonstrate the mastery of political strategy. Our adversaries will soon realize that age does not define political prowess,” Ehie asserted.

The event culminated in the Chief of Staff’s presentation of financial support to small-scale business owners and coordinators of the Simplified Movement, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to grassroots empowerment and community development.
