The suspect was apprehended by the operatives in Olu Obasanjo Division on Thursday, May 2, at about 12:45am when they noticed him driving a Toyota Corolla car in a suspicious manner.

The operatives saw how he maneuvred the car to evade them near the G.R.A junction, leading to him being chased and caught. When interrogated, the suspect who is a native of Ogoni and security officer at Geepap Mobile Company, confessed to his crime, disclosing that he hid his driving skill since he started work two years ago.

In his comment on the suspect’s arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, urged individuals to install security cameras and alarms to prevent such incidents outside of working hours.

The police said investigations were still ongoing to apprehend Monday’s accomplices in the car theft ring.
