Nollywood actress, Chinenye Ulaegbu is one of the most sought-after actresses in the Nigeria movie industry called Nollywood. The creative actress, producer, filmmaker, fitness enthusiast and CEO Dioda fashion house started acting at the age of 23 in Enugu state in a TV series titled “Ojukwu” for RokNigeria.

Speaking with the actress in an exclusive interview in Abuja, she explained why she is the most sort after actress in Nigeria and far beyond. Also adding that Nollywood has given opportunities to young prospectives actresses and actors to showcase their talents.

“Being one of the most sort after actresses at the moment feels great. It didn’t come easy. I was patient, I waited for my turn and it came. I’m still not where I want to be yet but I’m far from where I started, the treatment is better now. The pay is worth it, I’ve always heard people say that Nollywood actors are broke and don’t get paid enough…well compared to Hollywood, I can say that the statement is true but, nonetheless, times have changed. Actors are woken up now and I cannot be prouder.

“We the new generation of actors don’t want the circle to continue, the era where one has to pay dues for year before being paid or respected has ended. Nollywood is now a place where someone new can become relevant in a short period of time. For instance, I didn’t have to remain an upcomer for years, my growth was fast and steady and my value is a progression. I can say for a fact that Nollywood changed my story, I went from not being paid enough to being paid exactly what I want and I can’t thank God enough,” she appreciates.

Her career skyrocketed after her first breakthrough movie when she bagged a lead role and played the character Helen in a movie titled “A Call From The Past”, produced by Uche Mbunabo in 2018.
