Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, emphasized that no one is beyond being voted out of power by the electorate.

In a post on his X handle on Wednesday, Bashir warned of potential upsets in the 2027 general elections, dismissing current intimidations and urging patience among the people.

He asserted that not even international financial institutions like the IMF and the World Bank could prevent the people’s decision when the time comes. He took a jab at political strategists, suggesting their expertise is limited to Lagos.

In his posts, Bashir stated:

“Nobody is too big to be elected out of office by the people. It will happen & wallahi nothing will happen. So forget all these intimidations flying up and down. Let us be patient. Even the IMF & World Bank no go save una that time. Political strategist una. That one na for Lagos.”

Bashir doubled down on his stance, clarifying that he didn’t mention any names but highlighted the sense of guilt among those who felt targeted by his comments. He criticized what he perceives as a failed governance strategy cloaked in ethnocentric politics:

“I didn’t call names o, but due to their guilt, they already know who is being spoken about. Wallahi, none of you will force anyone to support this utter failure of governance disguised as useless, dangerous ethnocentric political strategy.”

This statement comes amidst allegations against Nasir El-Rufai concerning misappropriation of public funds during his tenure as Kaduna State governor and follows the narrative of President Bola Tinubu being hailed as a master strategist during the 2023 presidential campaign.
