President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently presiding over a National Security Council meeting at the State House in Abuja.
This crucial meeting, held in the President’s office, includes the attendance of all heads of security and law enforcement agencies.
The meeting takes place in the context of nationwide protests against hunger and poor governance. In a national broadcast on Sunday, President Tinubu appealed to the protest organizers to suspend their actions, especially as the demonstrations have turned violent in some states, leading to loss of lives and property damage.
President Tinubu assured the protesters that their grievances had been heard but warned against allowing opposition politicians to exploit the situation to undermine the country’s democracy.
Key attendees at the meeting include Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
The meeting also features heads of various security and law enforcement agencies, such as Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, the three service chiefs, Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, Director-General of the Department of State Services Yusuf Bichi, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Ahmed Rufai, Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service Col Adewale Adeniyi, and Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service Kemi Nanna Nandap.
