The government of Kano State has announced a relaxation of the curfew, now set from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This change, communicated by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Baba Dantiye, aims to help restore normalcy in the state.
The adjustment follows the imposition of a 24-hour curfew to ensure safety during ongoing nationwide protests. Governor Abba Yusuf expressed condolences to families affected by the violence and urged residents to adhere to the curfew, promising further review as the security situation improves.
In a similar move, Yobe State has also eased its curfew in the towns of Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru. Governor Mai Mala Buni, through his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Retired Brig.-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam, announced that the curfew is now from noon to 5 p.m. to allow for lawful activities.
Governor Buni commended the security agencies for their efforts in restoring peace and called on residents to remain cooperative and vigilant. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its citizens.
Both state governments emphasized their continued monitoring of the situation to ensure the safety of all residents.
