Residents of Abuja are set to experience significant power outages from January 6 to 21, 2025, as the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) plans major infrastructure relocations.
In an official statement released via its X handle, AEDC announced the disruptions, citing the Federal Capital Development Authority’s (FCDA) project to relocate the 33KV DC Airport Feeder and 132KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers along the Outer Southern Expressway.
The statement noted: “Please be informed that there will be power interruptions from January 6-21, 2025, due to FCDA relocating the 33KV DC Airport Feeder and 132KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers along the Outer Southern Expressway.”
The areas expected to experience outages include Lugbe and its environs, Airport Road, Kapwa, NNPC, Games Village, National Stadium, Eye Clinic, Indoor Complex, Christ Embassy Church, American International School, Spring Court, American Embassy Quarters, EFCC headquarters, Coca-Cola, Railway, FMC, parts of Apo, Gudu, Gbazango, Kubwa, Bwari, Jahi, Jabi, Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba, Keffi, and other parts of Abuja.
“We regret any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding,” AEDC added in the statement.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to prepare for the disruptions and explore alternative power solutions where possible.
