Veteran Nollywood actor Nkem Owoh, fondly known as Osuofia, is marking his 70th birthday today, and heartfelt tributes are pouring in from fans and colleagues across social media.

The iconic actor kicked off the celebration with a heartfelt message on his Instagram page, writing:

“Chi Efogo and it is my 70th birthday. What else can I say? To God be all the glory. Special thanks to you all for being part of this journey. I love you all.”

Fellow actors and celebrities flooded his comment section with warm birthday wishes. Actor Ken Erics wrote, “Happy Birthday Sir. Keep inspiring generations. God bless you,” while Uche Elendu added, “Happy Birthday my John Bull… 70 looks amazing on you uncle.” Frederick Leonard chimed in with, “Happy Birthday, Icon Living,” and Chidi Mokeme shared, “Happy Birthday Mpa. Tributes extended beyond Instagram, with fans celebrating Owoh on X (formerly known as Twitter). Former presidential spokesperson Segun Adeniyi reminisced about Owoh’s influence during his time in government, posting:

“The one and only Nkem Owoh is 70! I recall my days at the Villa. Most of the videos we watched on trips in the Presidential Jet were his. One day, I asked the PAF Commander why. It turned out the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua requested them! Happy birthday, Sir!”

Renowned for his impeccable comic timing, Nkem Owoh has not only excelled as an actor but also as a musician, releasing popular songs over the years. His talent has earned him numerous accolades, including the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2008 for his performance in Stronger Than Pain. In 2017, he was honored with the Africa Movie Academy Award’s Lifetime Achievement Award at its 13th edition.

Born on February 7, 1955, in Udi, Enugu State, Southeastern Nigeria, Owoh pursued a degree in Engineering at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, before finding his true calling in the world of entertainment.
