The North-West Youths for Peace and Development has expressed support for the intensified military operations targeting Turji Bello and other bandit groups across the region.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the group urged communities to acknowledge the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for their persistent efforts to curb banditry and restore security.

The group’s coordinator, Salihu Bello, signed the statement, highlighting the devastating impact of bandit activities on the region’s economy and social fabric.

The statement emphasized the need for collective backing of the military to bring lasting peace.

“While regions are discussing how to advance economically, here we are dealing with forces of retrogression, people who don’t want our region to advance,” the group said.

“Unfortunately, they are our people. How did we get to this situation? Who are the people directly or indirectly supporting them?”

The group commended the leadership of General Chris Musa and the ongoing military efforts to restore stability.

“We once more appeal to our people to support the military for us to come out of this quagmire!” the statement concluded.
