The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bashir Ajibola, has declared that the presidential seat will not be up for grabs in 2027, urging Nigerians to stand behind President Bola Tinubu’s leadership in the upcoming general elections.
Ajibola made this statement in Ilorin on Friday during a large-scale agriculture and human capital development empowerment event organized by Senator Saliu Mustapha, who represents Kwara Central in the Senate.
Addressing party loyalists and beneficiaries, Ajibola highlighted the importance of rallying behind Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting the progress made in the agricultural sector and food security reforms.
“The programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his renewed Hope Agenda are yielding fruits and turning the country into a self-dependent nation. The food security reforms are yielding good results. I enjoin you all to support President Tinubu and Sen. Mustapha in the elections with your votes. I repeat, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027,” Ajibola said.
The event drew several high-ranking officials, including the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, and other senators.
Kyari commended Tinubu’s agricultural policies, stating that they were making food more accessible and helping stabilize prices.
“The reform President Tinubu initiated in terms of food security is working; we have seen and are feeling that food is not only available, but prices are gradually becoming affordable,” Kyari stated.
Senator Barau also praised Mustapha, who chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, for his dedication to advancing the president’s initiatives.
In his speech, Mustapha emphasized the need to empower citizens and invest in education, aligning with the administration’s vision for national development.
“If we must align with Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, we must play key roles in the education of our people, and empowering them to contribute significantly to the nation’s economy,” Mustapha said.
He detailed various initiatives aimed at boosting local livelihoods, including scholarships for over 200 youths, vocational training for women, and livestock support for small-scale butchers.
“I was fascinated the other day, seeing women climbing poles when they were being trained about how to fix and repair solar when I went to check them during the training session. We have those in the abattoir business too — over 100 of them who will go home with one cow each; it’s worth N1m each,” he shared.
Mustapha also announced the distribution of essential equipment to support small businesses, including refrigerators, grinding machines for over 450 women, and tractors for local government farmers.
Senator Barau, representing Senate President Godswill Akpabio, further contributed 200 sewing machines to support Mustapha’s initiative.
“We all decided to come here and share this moment with SM. He’s one of the senators we are proud of in the Senate. He’s always passionate about Kwara whenever he’s in the Senate. We will continue to work and collaborate with him,” Barau added.
