The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has activated its Standby Force to tackle terrorism and transborder crimes in the subregion.

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, made this announcement during the 43rd Ordinary Meeting of the ECOWAS Committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff, held in Abuja on Tuesday.
