Former Kaduna State governor,  Nasir El-Rufai, on Friday met with the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in Abuja amid intensifying rumours about Kwankwaso’s potential move to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The two politicians were seen together following Jumaat prayers at a mosque in Abuja. According to The Nation, El-Rufai, accompanied by his eldest son, Hon. Bello El-Rufai, exchanged greetings with the former Kano State governor.

Their meeting comes at a time when speculations are rife that Kwankwaso may have sealed an agreement with President Bola  Tinubu, which could see him — along with his strong political following — rejoin the APC.

Observers believe that Kwankwaso’s return to the ruling party would significantly bolster Tinubu’s chances for re-election in the 2027 general polls.
