Hon. Chibuike Emmanuel E., Special Assistant to the Speaker of the House of Representatives on Energy, has extended heartfelt goodwill and commendation on behalf of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, and the leadership of the House, to participants at the national workshop on "Catalyzing Green Jobs Through Low-Carbon Transition in Nigeria."

In his goodwill message delivered at the event, Hon. Chibuike described the workshop as "timely and critical", especially as Nigeria and the global community confront the dual challenges of climate change and unemployment. He emphasized the green economy as a powerful lever for sustainable development, inclusive growth, and youth empowerment.

“The House of Representatives, under the distinguished leadership of Mr. Speaker, remains committed to supporting legislative and policy frameworks that foster green innovation, climate resilience, and economic diversification,” he said.

He further urged energy sector stakeholders — particularly international and indigenous oil and gas companies — to take greater responsibility in driving the green energy agenda. He stressed the need for these companies to integrate renewable energy solutions into their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, including:

Establishing renewable energy skill acquisition hubs in host communities

Creating employment pathways in green technology

Making clean energy attractive and accessible to the youth, who form the majority of Nigeria’s population

“Green jobs are not just the future — they are the now,” Hon. Chibuike stated. “By advancing low-carbon technologies, improving energy efficiency, and investing in renewables, we can unlock massive employment potential for our youth while protecting our environment.”

He applauded the House Committee on Renewable Energy, INCLUDE, UNDP, and other partners for convening the workshop, expressing optimism that the outcomes would help shape a just and prosperous energy transition in Nigeria.
