In recognition of his exceptional track records towards national development, societal upliftment and relentless service to humanity, a foremost entrepreneur, philanthropist and Chairman of Tetrazzini Group, Chief Dr. Prince Donatus Okonkwo has been honoured with "Distinguished Impact Leader Award for Innovation, Empowerment and Humanitarian Excellence".
The award ceremony at Abuja Continental Hotel, was organised by the Humanitarian Service Diamond Awards (HSD Award).
Receiving the award on Wednesday 20th August, 2025, Prince Okonkwo who is also the founder, Prince Okonkwo foundation, commended the organisers for finding him worthy of the recognition, promising to continue his good works for humanity.
Represented by his media Director, Mr. Alex Nwankwo, the 2017 Anambra gubernatorial candidate said the recognition is an invitation to do more to impact humanity in any way he can, noting that the society needs a touch of kindness to move forward.
A renowned philanthropist and humanitarian whose, Prince Okonkwo's initiatives have been lauded for assisting in transforming lives.
Some of them include, Widows Support Programme in Anambra State, Scholarship Scheme for indigent students, General Library Construction in Ojoto, Anambra State and massive investment in sports and talent development.
The HSD Award, is an annual event that celebrates individuals and organisations in Nigeria for their significant contribution to humanitarian causes and societal development.
Other notable individuals recognised at the event include, Dr. Nasir Idris, Governor of Kebbi State, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs, Dr. Hajia Nafisa Nasiru (Kebbi first lady) Hon. Daniel Amos, member house of Rep. Kaduna State, and others.
The awards celebrate compassion, service, and the pursuit of human dignity, highlighting those who have made lasting impacts through community development, philanthropy, and social responsibility.
The 2025 edition was held in commemoration of the World Humanitarian Day which holds annually on Aug. 20.
