It was an opportunity to discuss cultural exchange and enhanced mutual understanding as the President of the Beauty of Africa International Pageant (BAIP), Engr Daniel Opuene Maurice met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Nigeria, His Excellency, Mr. Suzuki Hideo at Japanese embassy in Abuja.

Accompanied by the reigning queen and winner of the 17th Beauty of Africa International Pageant (BAIP) Nigeria 2024, Queen Perpetual Ukadike and her crew, the beauty queen at the meeting recalled how she visited Japan on a lone trip as a beauty queen without her crew, due to their inability to get the necessary approvals.

While expressing hope that the next BAIP beauty queen to visit Japan will go with a retinue of delegates, she called for closed diplomatic ties between both countries.

"There are so many ways this visit today can foster the relationship we have with Japan, because I know going to Japan, I went alone, and I wish I went with a team that would support me. I was quite strong, and it was a memorable moment, but I would have loved to have a team with me. I believe this visit is going to strengthen the bond. For the next queen that will go to represent Nigeria in Japan, I believe she have a stronger team", she said.

In his remarks, the President of the Beauty of Africa International Pageant (BAIP), Engr Daniel Opuene Maurice expressed dissatisfaction that the beauty pageant sector of the entertainment industry in Nigeria has been sidelined.
He said his organization is committed to the empowerment of its beauty queens and young Nigerians to actualise their full potentials.

Highlight of the event was the conferment of award of recognition Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in appreciation of his steadfast goodwill towards the Beauty of Africa International Pageant Organization and its Queens.

"Throughout the years, you have consistently demonstrated unwavering support and commitment to the Beauty of Africa International Pageant and the Nigerian entertainment industry", Engr. Maurice said.

This award and Certificate of Recognition for Friendship represent BAIP's gratitude and appreciation for the envoy's benevolence towards the Beauty of Africa International Pageant.

Recall that the pretty damsel and Beauty Queen was appointed Miss Visit Japan Tourism Ambassador by the Ministry of Economics, Trade and Industry.
