There was heavy shooting on Thursday when gunmen suspected to be armed robbers invaded NNPC Estate located in Karmo/Life Camp, Abuja.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 3:48 a.m., when armed hoodlums stormed the estate, tied up security guards on duty, and robbed a resident driving into the compound of his black Toyota Avalon car, with registration number BWR-946 DV.

According to a report by security analyst Zagozola Makama,  operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command engaged in heavy shoot-out and  recovered the snatched vehicle and weapons following the gun duel.

“On receipt of the distress call, a police patrol team was immediately dispatched to the scene and pursued the suspects toward Giri Airport Road, close to the Civil Defence Headquarters.

“A gun duel ensued, forcing the robbers to abandon the car and flee into a nearby bush,” the report quoted sources to have said.

Items recovered include the snatched Toyota Avalon, a locally fabricated firearm, a taser, and a machete.

The sources said investigation into the incident was ongoing.
