The Rivers State House of Assembly has called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to promptly forward the list of commissioner-nominees for screening and confirmation.

This resolution was reached during the Assembly’s first plenary on Thursday, following the lifting of the six-month emergency rule imposed on the state.

Presiding over the session, Speaker Martin Amaewhule also urged the Governor to immediately begin preparations for an Appropriation Law to cover the remaining part of the year.

Lawmakers stressed that the prompt constitution of the State Executive Council and the passage of a budget framework were crucial for stabilising governance in Rivers State after months of political disruption.
