Adanna Ifeoma Enwezor is the founder of the African Hair Summit and the Afro Hair Culture & Beauty Festival. She established these initiatives in 2016 through her NGO, Photizo Life Foundation, to raise health awareness about the toxic chemicals found in many hair and beauty products, to celebrate the beauty of African natural hair, and to empower local beauty entrepreneurs.
Through Photizo Life Foundation, Adanna has trained over 10,000 young girls and women across schools and local communities in natural hair styling, product formulation, wig making, and related skills. This initiative has helped many participants gain confidence, start businesses, and create sustainable livelihoods.
Her passion for this work began after a personal experience with a chemical relaxer that caused severe scalp damage. That moment inspired her to create platforms that educate, empower, and celebrate African identity. Through the African Hair Summit, she has built a growing movement that promotes healthy hair care, self-love, and economic empowerment in the African beauty space.
Every December, Adanna leads the Afro Hair Culture & Beauty Festival, Nigeria’s largest gathering celebrating African hair, beauty, and culture. The 2025 edition will take place from December 12–13, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. The festival features runway shows, hair competitions, panel discussions, and a business expo, with support from key government agencies and major media platforms such as BBC Africa, Al Jazeera, and CNBC Africa. The second day will conclude with a prestigious gala night, offering an elegant celebration of African creativity and achievement.
This year’s edition will introduce the first-ever Afro Culture Party, an exciting new experience that blends music, art, dance, and fashion in one unforgettable night of cultural pride and expression. It promises to be a colourful fusion of heritage and modern African creativity, a space where everyone can come as they are and celebrate the beauty of Africa in style.
The Afro Culture Party will hold on December 21, 2025, at the British Council, Abuja. This premium cultural experience is designed to celebrate the richness of African beauty, fashion, hairstyles, art, and cuisine in an elegant, high-energy setting. Positioned as a vibrant close to the year, it makes “Dirty December” more meaningful by infusing it with cultural depth and creative excellence. It will bring together diverse nationalities, influencers, creatives, and professionals to honour Africa’s heritage while creating exclusive networking opportunities in a festive, elevated atmosphere.
Adanna and her team warmly invite you to be part of both experiences:
