The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which challenged the legality of the six-month suspension of Senator Natasha Uduaghan-Apoti, representing Kogi Central, over alleged misconduct.
The case, brought by Ovavu Illiyasu and nine others, was struck out by Justice James Omotosho, who ruled that the plaintiffs lacked the legal right (locus standi) to institute the action.
In the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/654/2025, the applicants had sought to nullify Senator Uduaghan-Apoti’s suspension, arguing that it would deprive the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District of proper representation in the National Assembly.
They also asked the court to order her immediate reinstatement, insisting that her absence would “shortchange” the district.
Delivering judgment on Friday, Justice Omotosho held that the plaintiffs had no legal standing to pursue the matter and dismissed the case for lacking merit.
