Barely weeks after eight operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) attached to Bua Cement were killed by gunmen in Okpella, Edo State, suspected bandits have launched another attack in the same community.

The latest incident occurred on Thursday morning when the assailants stormed a farmland belonging to a couple.

It was gathered that the husband, who was severely wounded in the assault, managed to escape and raise alarm, but the attackers fled with his wife

The development has heightened fears over the safety of farmers and residents in the  community, which shares a boundary with Okene, Kogi State.

As of the time of filing this report, the police were yet to release an official statement on the attack.
