President Bola Tinubu on Friday held his first official meeting with the newly appointed Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The brainstorming session marked the beginning of a new phase in the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces following a major shake-up on Friday.

Tinubu had relieved some top military officers of their duties while retaining General Olufemi Oluyede, who was reassigned from Chief of Army Staff to Chief of Defence Staff.

In the new appointments, Major-General W. Shaibu became the Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke took over as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumed office as Chief of Naval Staff.

The President urged the new military leaders to justify the trust placed in them and to build on the professionalism, unity, and vigilance that have long defined the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
