Joint security operatives led by the Nigerian Army have freed 15 abducted persons following a raid on the kidnappers’ forest enclaves in the Ajaokuta and Itobe corridors of Kogi State.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama reported that the operation was triggered by credible intelligence pinpointing the victims’ location, prompting troops to deploy tear gas to force the kidnappers from their hideout.
Those rescued were identified as Joe Stephen (35), Gift Alex, Samaila Mohamed, Sani Mahamud, Abbas Sani, Abdullahi Aminu, Ibrahim Gambo, Ishaku Ibrahim, and Muhammed Salisu.
Six additional victims were said to be receiving medical care in hospitals. Makama noted that statements had been taken from the rescued individuals and that investigations were already underway.
In a separate incident along the Ayere–Kabba axis, security personnel recovered three more kidnap victims — Usman (m, Nasarawa State), Isah Idris (m, Niger State), and Morina William (f, Gombe State) — from a forest hideout after they were abducted on 7 November.
